Issues with installing under all versions of MS Windows

[Solved] Can I make OpenOffice my default programme?

Since updating to Win 10, I would like to use Open up Part equally my default program and replace Micro$often 365.
If I tin do that I will and so remove MS 365.... But how and where do I make the changes?

If you installed OpenOffice after upgrading to Windows 10, then your file associations should've updated automatically, per Bill's respond.
However, if y'all updated later on installing Open Role, then yous'll demand to fix the Default Programs via Windows.
As I don't use Windows ten (as well many issues for my liking), I tin can non provide you with more detailed instructions.

Thanks for the answer. I went in and set Open Function equally default app. Now to get rid of Office 365.
Win 10 has been a nightmare and I am learning that it's not as great as information technology is claimed to be.

Take make new HP laptop with Windows 10 (liked Vista much amend; less useless bloatware). Love Open up Office; accept used it for years. Never had any problems with Vista, but 10 won't allow OO to exist the default. Made all the setting changes, but 10 still opens everything in "Edge". All of my saved forms & docs, etc are pdf, txt, odt etc. Aid!

Nothing should open up in Border except htm, html and peradventure pdf and xml.

What are "all the setting changes"? If Windows ten is ignoring your default programme settings, then you should go to a Windows ten forum for assistance.

opens any document format in Edge. I gear up all formats that Open up Function functions with to default to OO, but merely odt uses information technology, non fifty-fifty pdf. Windows10 help/support & forums are useless and told me to come here.

pdf is better opened in a defended PDF reader, such as Adobe Reader; OpenOffice volition, with the correct extension installed, permit ane to make small (cosmetic) edits to a PDF, just information technology is much better not to rely on OO equally a PDF reader. I cannot respond for Win10 default program settings.

Apache OpenOffice 4.1.12 on Xubuntu twenty.04.iv and very infrequently on Win2K/XP

OpenOffice is not a PDF reader. It can consign PDF files, simply tin't open up them.

Which specific file types are opening in Edge that yous retrieve should be opening in OpenOffice? Without specific information, there's not much I can do to help.
